Our History
Our business began in 1986 when we bought a little delicatessen (Temptations Deli) in Papanui Road, Merivale. We worked from there for about 6 years, and discovered that catering was our real passion, so we sold the retail side of the business and concentrated on catering for an ever-increasing number of corporate clients throughout the city.
We set up base in Staveley St, Avonhead, and enjoyed our time there for about 10 years, from time to time dabbling in wholesale supply to various supermarkets as well as opening a little cafe. The opportunity to move into the city came in 2003 when we took over the lease of what was then the “Global Kitchen“ on the corner of Madras and Salisbury Streets. We loved our time there, our staff increased markedly, and really enjoyed serving that area of town via our cafe as well as expanding our catering business. Unfortunately the early morning earthquake in September 2010 spelt the end of our beloved building (the painting below was painted by Gordon Sharp in 2007). We operated from a little gray caravan on the site while we worked out of one of our client’s premises just down the road, but only 6 months later we were on the move again after the big earthquake in February, 2011.
We took over the lease of a cafe in Wrights Rd, Addington (Pulse Cafe) and at the same time set up our current kitchen not far from Christchurch Airport. We operated both for about 2 years, but after most our faithful staff who were with us during the earthquakes gradually drifted off to other jobs/home to family in other parts of the country, we once again decided to concentrate on our catering kitchen. We’ve been in our current kitchen for nearly 10 years now.
